Wesley Manor, a senior housing community in Frankfort, recently sponsored an event that brought history and aviation together for fi ve residents who took a flight on a World War II-era patrol plane.
The event was held at the Frankfort/Clinton County Airport honoring U.S. Navy pilot Lt. Adrian Marks, a Frankfort native, who rescued 56 crewmen aboard the USS Indianapolis in 1945.
Percell Smith Jr. has been named vice president of operations for the Michigan region of Indianapolis-based BHI Senior Living.
Percell has more than 25 years of experience in senior living and skilled nursing operations. He is a career coach and mentor for long-term care professionals and has taught at the collegiate level, preparing students aspiring to become administrators.
National Senior Communities in Washington, DC, retained its top spot for the eighth consecutive year on the 2023 LeadingAge Ziegler 200 list of largest not-for-profit multi-site senior living and care organizations, based on number of units. The 20th anniversary report was released Thursday.

Holland Elementary School teachers gathered for a special lunch Tuesday afternoon as they prepare for a stressful time of year. The school year is just one day away and some of them still need supplies.
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Residents of the Towne House are coming together to honor teachers at Holland Elementary at the 8th annual luncheon where donations to buy supplies for the upcoming school year will be given.
What began as a tutoring program with students has grown into the Holland Elementary Teachers Fund, where residents contribute financially to help teachers buy classroom supplies. Residents, many of them being retired educators, worked to donate $8,755 also getting help from BHI Foundation and United Art and Education to raise a total of $10,600 for Holland Elementary school teachers.
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) – Residents at The Towne House will hold its eighth luncheon to honor Holland Elementary teachers and present them with gift cards to buy classroom supplies.
The luncheon will be on Tuesday, August 8 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at The Towne House Retirement Community, 2209 St. Joe Center Road.
Hoosier Village started the summer with a day of excitement, supporting the Alzheimer’s Association’s The Longest Day event.
On June 21, the retirement community at 9875 Cherryleaf Dr. in Zionsville hosted a fundraising event with a day filled with entertainment. Family and friends enjoyed activities and events that included a pickleball tournament, cookout, and concert.
It’s overwhelming enough when the doctor tells you that your elderly mom can’t be discharged home after a fall. Then, when searching for where she should go, you’re inundated with unfamiliar senior living terminology: What is a skilled nursing facility? What is a nursing home? Are they the same?
The Zionsville Plan Commission approved a proposed expansion for Hoosier Village, a 300-acre senior living community in Zionsville, during its May 15 meeting. The commission approved the expansion in a 7-0 vote.
The 26.8-acre expansion proposed in the southwestern section of the Hoosier Village campus will include 89 attached two- and three-story townhomes, a dog park and a community garden.
